Truckee Games offers many game worlds (and growing!). The worlds are presented without an attached rule set so that you may utilize them with your preferred game (though my goal is to eventually provide my own rule sets). Links on the side take you to downloadable documents and supplemental material.

A New Direction

Until now, my approach to game design has been simple: build the worlds rattling around in my head. Get them out, get them down, before they fade. Ideas are cheap—(that’s a post for another Sunday)—but the work is in shaping them until they stand on their own.

Lately, I’ve been asked more about how I build them. I’m no self-proclaimed master cartographer of worlds, but I do have a process—messy, stitched together from my inspirations, and tested in the fires of actual play.

So here’s the new direction: each Sunday, I’ll post a short piece covering one of four pillars—Worldbuilding, Game Mechanics, Table Culture, and Adventure Design. Sometimes it’ll be theory, sometimes tools you can use immediately. Always drawn from what’s worked for me, who and what has inspired me, and the strange detours I’ve taken to get there.

Think of it as a long conversation about building better games—one week, one topic, one map piece at a time.
