Honestly, this one came out of nowhere. Wasn't even on my radar. I was watching a documentary series about ancient engineering, talking about 'roads' made of reeds and woods, through wetlands, and the narrator said it was "an age of bamboo", and just that phrase fired off my imagination. I placed the action of the setting in a fictional Southeast Asia, and as I dug into the cultures, history, myths and legends, it was a like a rabbit hole that just kept going and inspiring me to add further details.And since I am no scholar of that region, I am positive my attempt at using languages from the Hmong, Thai, Laotian, Cambodian, and Vietnamese are butchering the languages or creating utter gibberish. I apologize.
